“Where is Anna?” a restless young man repeatedly asked Arvind Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convenor, during an interactive show on a major English News channel over a week back. Then, the day before yesterday, a question on similar lines was posed again to Arvind with much gusto by a seasoned journalist on a prominent Hindi News channel. In fact, not a day goes by when this process is not repeated in one form or other since the much talked about split between Arvind Kejriwal and the renowned social reformer Anna Hazare.
One could have understood the initial desperation to somehow pitch Arvind Kejriwal against Anna Hazare. It pays, after all, to keep the pot boiling. Or, the unceasing zest to elicit a response if Arvind had avoided straight answers or tried to evade the topic. On the contrary, Arvind has answered it patiently, every single time the issue has been raised by the media.
Yes, it’s perfectly alright to have issues with his explanation as to why it became necessary to transform India Against Corruption movement into a Political Party. And why, Anna Hazare and he agreed to disagree on the way forward. However, no one having half an ear can claim to be clueless about Arvind’s responses.
But, when the focus is more on the questions than answers, then of course, a million replies are bound to go unheard. So, if we keep the cacophony aside for a moment, what is the essence of Arvind Kejriwal’s reply to this ‘primordial’ question?
